Nutmeg Butter is a creamy yellow, semi-solid butter that has been CO2 extracted from the nutmeg fruit. It comes in soft, crumbly pieces and has a low melting point. Nutmeg is the seed or ground spice of several species of the genus Myristica. Myristica fragrans (fragrant nutmeg or true nutmeg) is a dark-leaved evergreen tree cultivated for two spices derived from its fruit: nutmeg, from its seed, and mace, from the seed covering. It is also a commercial source of essential oil and nutmeg butter.
Nutmeg is a spice made from the seed of the nutmeg tree (Myristica fragrant), and it has a fresh, rich aroma and a woody, bittersweet flavor with hints of clove. Nutmeg is the inner seed, while mace is the red, lace-like substance that covers the seed. When used in cakes, bread, pastries, fruit dishes, and pies it pairs well with ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. When used in lamb, mutton, meat stews, spinach dishes, veal, vegetable recipes, and even pasta sauces, it pairs well with cumin, coriander, pepper, and thyme.
To make nutmeg for seasoning, the nutmeg seeds are dried gradually in the sun over a period of six to eight weeks. During this time, the nutmeg shrinks away from its hard seed coat. The spice is ready when the kernels rattle in their shells when shaken. It is separated from the outer coat (the mace).

Nutmeg butter is being extracted from nutmegs. It is semi-solid which is reddish-brown in color having the smell and taste of nutmeg. About 75 percent is trimyristin in nutmeg butter that could be converted into myristic acid which is a 14-carbon fatty acid that is used as a substitute for cocoa butter and is also combined with fats such as palm oil or cottonseed oil. Traditionally after diluting, it is used to calm skin irritations and eradicate rheumatic pain. It is also used in creams, soaps, lip balms, creams, shampoo, body butter, conditioners, and hair pomades. The excessive use of nutmegs results in psychoactive effects. Though the poisoning of nutmeg is rarely harmful it could lead to palpitations, convulsions, and pain.
