Acne Aestivalis

Acne aestivalis, also known as Mallorca acne, is a type of acne that is characterized by the sudden onset of numerous small, red papules and pustules on the face, chest, and back. These eruptions are typically seen in people who spend a lot of time in the sun, and the condition is most common during the summer months. Acne aestivalis is thought to be caused by a combination of factors, including increased sebum production, blocked pores, and inflammation, as well as exposure to UV radiation.

The treatment of Acne aestivalis is similar to that of common acne, which includes topical or oral medications such as retinoids, antibiotics, and benzoyl peroxide. Sun protection is also important, by using sunscreens with a high SPF rating, wearing protective clothing and avoiding sun exposure during peak hours.

It is important to note that people with fair skin are more likely to develop Acne aestivalis than those with darker skin, and also people who are prone to acne may be more likely to develop this form of acne.
