Honor 9S is officially announced on 29th April 2020. The display size is smaller compared to other versions of Honor 9 released so far that is 5.45 inches capacitive touchscreen and resolution is 720 x 1440 pixels. The smartphone runs on the Android 10; Magic UI 3.1 (no Google Play Services) operating system, and powered by Mediatek MT6762R Helio P22.

The rear camera consists of an 8 MP (wide) while on the front there is a single 5 MP (wide) camera. The sensors include Accelerometer and proximity.

The smartphone features Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) and packs with 2 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The dimension of the device is 146.5 x 70.9 x 8.4 mm and 144 grams.

The smartphone is fueled by a Non-removable Li-Po 3020 mAh battery. The Honor 9S comes in Black, Blue, and Red colors. The smartphone features a loudspeaker, 3.5mm jack, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GLONASS, BDS, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB micro USB 2.0.
