Dr. Firizul Alom Firoj, MPH, MPT, MDT, is a consultant musculoskeletal, neurological, and rehabilitation specialist at the Premier Physiotherapy Consultation Center, affiliated with the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Pongu Hospital) in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. NITOR was established in 1972 and functions as a premier government-run orthopedic hospital and postgraduate institute, affiliated with the University of Dhaka and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. It is renowned for its comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in orthopedic surgery, trauma care, and rehabilitative therapy, and serves as a leading center for Bachelor of Physiotherapy, MD Orthopedics, and MS Orthopedics programs.
Dr. Firoj completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) at the University of Dhaka, graduating with top honors, before earning a Master of Public Health (MPH) from ASA University Bangladesh. He then pursued a Master of Physiotherapy (MPT), specializing in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, and further honed his skills with a Postgraduate Certificate in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). To deepen his clinical competencies, he was awarded a fellowship by the Bangladesh Health Professions Institute in Certified Rehabilitation Practice (BHPI-CRP)
Guided by a patient-centered philosophy, Dr. Firoj’s professional motto is “to help patients overcome physical challenges resulting from injury, illness, disability, or aging, so they can regain mobility and enhance their quality of life. He conducts thorough assessments to identify the root causes of pain and dysfunction, then collaborates with each patient to develop realistic, goal-driven rehabilitation plans that prioritize safety, comfort, and long-term wellness.
In clinical practice, Dr. Firoj specializes in the management of complex musculoskeletal conditions—such as spinal disorders, joint injuries, and chronic back pain—and neurological rehabilitation for stroke survivors and spinal cord injury patients. He integrates advanced manual therapy techniques, targeted therapeutic exercise programs, and evidence-based modalities including dry needling, kinesiology taping, and electrotherapy. His approach emphasizes spinal stabilization, functional retraining, and patient education to prevent recurrence and promote self-management.
Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Firoj is committed to professional development and knowledge sharing. He regularly leads workshops and in-service training sessions for physiotherapists and allied health professionals, and has collaborated with community organizations to promote injury prevention and healthy lifestyles. Notably, he played a key role in organizing a World Heart Day awareness campaign in partnership with Lovely Professional University, aimed at empowering communities to reduce cardiovascular risk factors through exercise and rehabilitation interventions.
Dr. Firoj maintains active memberships in both national and international physiotherapy associations, and continually updates his practice through advanced courses in spinal manipulative therapy, neuro-rehabilitation techniques, and sports physiotherapy.
